General Guidelines-Application

  In selecting exhibits and displays the following will be considered: -quality of work -community/regional interest -space requirements -artwork must be original and produced by the artist -images submitted with application must be representative of the artwork to be displayed -commercially produced work or advertisements, commercial exhibits, partisan political exhibits, fundraising, religious exhibits, sales literature, items soliciting donations or membership or merchandise sales are not permitted.  

General Guidelines- Installation of Artwork

  Art must arrive at the Travel Marquette office at the agreed upon date and time. All work must be set up and taken down by the artist during regular business hours, 9-5, M-F, with assistance from Travel Marquette. Pick up and drop off dates must be coordinated with the administrative assistant, 906-228-7749, or admin@travelmarquettemichigan.com.   NOTE: If artwork is not properly or safely framed or made ready for hanging, Travel Marquette is not responsible for any damages before or after hanging.  

Publicity

  Artists will provide JPEG images of their work and an artist biography to use for publicity. We will publicize the show through our usual channels (mailing list, Facebook, press releases to local papers), but cannot print and mail announcements or posters. Posters may be created by the artist but must be approved by Travel Marquette for distribution.  

Sales

  Work on display is for sale but will not be tagged. Artists must provide an inventory of the items and the value of each piece or identified as NFS (not for sale). When requested, Travel Marquette is responsible for providing artist contact information and price of item. Travel Marquette is not responsible for the sale of an item or the handling of any cash or checks. Interested buyers must contact the artist directly. Work that is sold must remain on display throughout the scheduled exhibit. Artists will complete transactions after the exhibit has been taken down and removed from Travel Marquette offices.  

Reception

  If desired, an artist reception will be scheduled from 9:30-11:30 am on any Friday during the exhibit and include coffee and light snacks from local establishments. All receptions are open to the public and free of charge. Alcohol is not allowed. Music may be provided by the artist using their own equipment or hiring musicians at their own expense and must be approved by Travel Marquette.  

Loss or Damage of Exhibit Items and Insurance

  Travel Marquette will make a reasonable effort to protect artwork from accidental damage or breakage. Travel Marquette will bear full responsibility for damage to any Travel Marquette property that is caused or inflicted by the artist or Travel Marquette. Travel Marquette is not responsible for damage that may occur to work that is not properly or safely framed or made ready for hanging, or damaged in the process of transporting. Travel Marquette will not be responsible for any loss or damage caused by theft, fire, flood, wind or rain or any other cause whatsoever. Artist is responsible for his or her own insurance on all artwork, although not a requirement.  

Cancellation

  Travel Marquette reserved the right to suspend or cancel any exhibit should conditions warrant such action.
