Recreation

Recreation

Nowhere else in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan can you have the “Best of Both Worlds”.  What does that mean………………..well you can be in any of our towns and villages enjoying a meal and beverage and within five minutes you have available any type of recreation all year long.

Located on the shores of Lake Superior provides recreation enthuasiasts all the water based opportunities.  Walking the beaches, boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, sail boarding and surfing are all a part of our beach side communities.  That does not even touch the beauty of our inland lakes and streams that cover the country from the west to the shores of the lake.

Fall provides brilliant colors for hiking, biking and grouse hunting, four wheeling and the infamous “UP Deer Season” when the small communities invite hunters enjoy some local flavor.  Winter, where we are happy to experience the “lake effect” snow machine provides opportunities to snowmobile, cross country ski, downhill ski, ice fish and even on a wild Lake Superior day, do some surfing.  Spring with it’s wild rivers from the winter snow melt, provides opportunities for early trout fishing, morel picking, four wheeling and spring skiing.

Where ever it is in the county, you can sit back, relax, enjoy local fare and “find your human nature”
