For most of the Midwest, March means the start of Spring, for Marquette County, March is just another month of Winter. And with the rather meek January and February we’ve had, it’s safe to believe that March, though mild, stands a good chance of snow showers. So while everyone everywhere else spends their gray days awaiting the grass and the sun, we’ll still be hitting the slopes, traversing the trails, and soaking in the last bits of snow.

  1. Marquette Mountain

The last day of ski season at Marquette Mountain is April 9th, which means the whole month of March is packed full of festivities.

March Events:

6th thru 12th – Lower Michigan Week – $22 daily lift all week with proof

4th – 19th Annual Hornbogen Classic Race and Ride for Cody Day

5th – Vintage Ski Day – Come dressed for the party and the lift ticket is $22!

12th – Carload Day – $65 for your car, truck or van

12th – Slope Poker

17th – 19th – Spring Carnival & Marquette PSIA-C Event

17th – St. Patty’s Day Party – $22 lifts when dressed for the party

18th – Polar Plunge

24th-27th – $55 Weekend

2) Hike 100 Challenge

The North Country Trail Association is again offering a Hike 100 Challenge with an additional Build It Challenge. Anyone who collectively hikes 100 miles on the North Country Trail during the calendar year of 2017 will qualify for a patch.

The Build It Challenge:

Spread the Word & Support the NCTA: Go on a group hike. Participate in a chapter event. Pick up trash on a 1-mile segment of trail.

Get Involved- Distribute NCTA brochures or NCT maps to local libraries, schools, or businesses.

3) St. Paddy’s Parties

Double Trouble DJ: St. Paddy’s Street Party

Double Trouble DJs is taking the celebration to the streets this St. Patrick’s Day (and night). Word on Washington St. is there will be food, beer, and music for all (must be 21+ for the beer part).

Ore Dock Brewing Co: St. Paddy's on Spring

Afterward, be sure to walk over and warm-up at the Ore Dock Brewing Company on Spring St. with some pints and dancing.

4) Restaurant Week

March 12-19

The Eastside Independent Restaurant Association and Marquette Development Authority linked up with numerous restaurants to bring us a week full of food and community. Come celebrate local flavor with over 20 restaurants in Downtown Marquette. $10 fixed price lunch menus and $25 select dinner meals. More info.
