Geographic Description
Marquette County sits on the south shore of Lake Superior, the largest of the five Great Lakes and the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area. With over 1,083 square miles of land, Marquette County is larger than the state of Rhode Island and includes 55 miles of Lake Superior frontage. The county has a population of approximately 74,000 people and the largest city is Marquette with a population of 22,000.
